Elprimer Media Recovery is a media recovery tool for CDs and DVDs. Although it can be used for recovering corrupted data on any medium, this tool specializes in recovering bad files from optical media or floppy discs. You can't use this tool to recover files that were lost or accidentally deleted. You would use it if you have data on a DVD and it can't be successfully read by your DVD drive, for example.

This application features a very simple and intuitive user interface, once you realize what this application does. There are two steps to a recovery operation: select the file that you want to recover and tell the app to start.

It should be noted that file recovery doesn't always work for everyone. If your medium is badly damaged, this application may recover your files or it may not. There are, however, quite a few options to improve your chances. Elprimer Media Recovery allows you to change the way it reads media to improve the quality of the recovered files or to make the process faster. I like the feature that stops the scan if there are unsolvable errors, which saves you lots of time.

The app will tell you which files are recoverable, but you will have to purchase the app to get them back. There is a time-limited license that sells for $20. This is great for one-time use and it could save you a couple of bucks.
